POSITION: Internship or Volunteer Position (unpaid, college credit available)
DATES: Mid-January to June 2012 (shorter or longer terms available)
COMMITMENT: 10-20 hours per week
JOB DESCRIPTION: The San Diego Asian Film Foundation is seeking creative, outgoing, and responsible team members to help carry out marketing and outreach activities at a specific major university or college throughout San Diego County. Candidates will build relationships with professors and student organizations, execute grass roots marketing campaigns, and develop strategic partnerships with on campus departments. Associates will work directly with the Marketing Director, but may also assist Executive Director and Managing Director.
BENEFITS: This position offers a unique opportunity to experience and participate in an exciting film and cultural event. Interns get hands-on experience with event planning, marketing, and publicity campaigns, as well as exposure to the Asian Pacific American arts community. Those selected will also have the opportunity to be educated about the Asian Film industry and will build knowledge throughout the year watching important Pan Asian cinema. There will be great networking opportunities and will be valuable experience for those aspiring to participate in the Public Relations, Marketing, Film, and Non-Profit fields.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An ideal candidate would possess the following skills and traits:
- Organizational Marketing or Public Relations Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Google Docs.
- Basic Knowledge of Social Media Campaigns
- Excellent Interpersonal, Communication, and Organizational Skills
- Reliable Transportation Around San Diego
- Ability to Work as a Leader and as a part of a Larger Team
- Ability to Develop and Deliver Presentations with an Emphasis on Public Speaking
- Foreign Language Skills a Plus
- Student or Community Organization Experience a Plus
- San Diego Asian Film Foundation Volunteer Experience a Plus
