YOUTH DAY

Each year during the San Diego Asian Film Festival, we present Youth Day, a free day of youth-oriented film screenings to culturally educate, enlighten, and enhance students’ film literacy skills. We partner with local businesses and area high schools to draw hundreds of students for a day full of film and learning at the Hazard Center UltraStar Cinemas. Students also have the opportunity to meet and hear from filmmakers.

YOUTH DAY 2009

This year, Youth Day will take place on Tuesday, October 27 from 10am – 2PM at the Hazard Center Ultrastar Cinemas. Youth Day is broken down into the following schedule:

10am – 11:30am	Reel Voices films and discussion
11:30am – 12:15	Lunch (provided by Jack in the Box)
12:15pm – 1:30	Short Films and discussion with artists
1:30pm – 2PM	Student and Teacher feedback

FOR TEACHERS

While Youth Day is open to all local high schools, we are particularly interested in working with teachers and students in the area of film, media arts, and ethnic studies. We provide each teacher with a study guide to prepare students for Youth Day.

We also provide lunch for students, and limited funding is available for bussing. However, we ask each school to help with transportation as much as they can.
