The public is invited to a vigil on Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 PM at Abundant Life Community Church to show solidarity against the imprisonment of two American journalists in North Korea – Euna Lee and Laura Ling. Laura's sister, Lisa Ling (CNN correspondent), has confirmed she will speak during the vigil live by phone or Skype. Members of Congress have also been invited to participate.

Meantime, I was interviewed by reporter Jessica Chang on NBC-7/39 and by Arthel Nevel on Fox 5, during which I talked about conditions of North Korean labor camps, using scenes from the Korean film, CROSSING (South Korea's submission to this year's Academy Awards). CROSSING, by the way, is slated to screen at our film festival in October.
We also invite anyone who attends the vigil to stay for a free screening of an award-winning 50-minute documentary of North Korean children called SHADOWS AND WHISPERS that we screened at our festival 7 years ago. This film was directed by a brave woman, Jung-Eun Kim, who risked her life to profile North Korean children who crossed over into China in search for food for their starving families. It's a must-see!
