10 reasons to see "A Thousand Years" this Thursday

Dear SDAFF friends,

It's a cold, rainy start to Oscar week, but what better way to warm up your week with our first quarterly film screening this Thursday, February 19 at the Mission Valley UltraStar Cinemas. We have two screenings at 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM of "A Thousand Years of Good Prayers," which kicks off our 10th season of programming. We thought we'd give you 10 good reasons to come out this Thursday:

1. The movie is REALLY good (directed by Wayne Wang, Joy Luck Club and Chan Is Missing)
2. There's a free reception for patrons at 8 PM in the theater lobby - FREE snacks and drinks!
3. Witness the very FIRST live Q&A on the big screen via SKYPE!!! We're going to hear from Yiyun Li who wrote the book that the movie is based on!
4. Attendees get discounts at Applebee's (20% off all night) and at SanSai Japanese Grill (50% bowls & sushi 3-6:30 PM)
5. Parking at the Hazard Center is free
6. Meet our cool staff and volunteers
7. Tickets are only $9 (or $7 for students/seniors/military), and only $5 for SDAFF members
8. You have two screenings to choose from: 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM
9. Get a chance to learn more about our plans for our 10th season and our film festival...and give us your feedback on what you want to see this year!
