Skype rocks, film fests this week, what can you get for $4.58?

It's the exact thing I needed to kick the flu! A wonderful turnout for our quarterly film screening last month - it was PACKED! Thanks to all who attend to watch Wayne Wang's "A Thousand Years of Good Prayers." If you missed the screening, the film comes out on DVD on May 26. But I also highly recommend you purchase the book the movie is based on written by award-winning author, Yiyun Li. I'm on the seventh chapter right now, and I'm hooked. (You can pick up a copy at the Hazard Center Barnes & Noble.)

Speaking of Yiyun Li, how cool is this? She joined us LIVE after film screening via Skype from her home in Northern CA! The audience was able to ask her questions about what inspired her to write the story, and the meaning behind the title. We hope to incorporate more technology like this into our film screenings to give you, our fans, a more meaningful experience.

Be sure to keep us on your calendar for our longest film festival ever, October 15-29, at the Hazard Center UltraStar Cinemas. The San Diego Asian Film Festival will be celebrating our 10th season with more than 100 films from around the world.
