SWING SWISH SWAY

Directed by TT Takemoto

Using emulsion lifting and contact printing to recover a submerged history. Inspired by mixed-race Filipina American Rose Bamberger, who rejected the political visibility of the Daughters of Bilitis (The Ladder) in favor of a “secret society” for queer joy. The film manifests her vision through the pleasure of playgrounds at night, and the shared acts of swinging, dancing, preparing fried chicken, and the soft knowing stroke of a paintbrush.

SHORTS @MCASD2: PHASE RELATIONS

Three works which explore surprising histories that overlap, reinforce, and sometimes interfere, from an alliance between Indian and African resistance to Portuguese colonialism, queer secret societies, and an encounter with a musician in Morocco who opens portals to other worlds.
