The Prime Minister of Japan, Keisuke Kuroda, has the worst approval rating in history. He’s notoriously nasty. He can’t express himself without yelling obscenities at anyone who questions his authority. He’s cruel to animals. He’s despised for hiking up the sales tax. What’s not to hate?
That’s about when an angry citizen chucks a rock at his head. The PM then wakes up in a hospital bed with no memory of his political career or identity, leaving his secretaries to reconstruct the man he once was before the cabinet, his family, and the public find out. Meanwhile, Keisuke has only memories of being a decent guy and would rather not be public enemy number one. Can he turn his reputation around?
Turns out, being good is easier said than done in politics. The latest comedy by Koki Mitani (The Magic Hour) has Keisuke navigating the detours that could easily lead a politician into corruption. A light-hearted and mischievous satire with lovable supporting characters surrounding an unforgettable amnesiac, HIT ME ANYONE ONE MORE TIME is a fantasy about pressing reset on an incompetent, chauvinistic, and corrupt leader.
