Many Moons

Directed by Chisato Hughes

In 1885, Chinese people were forced out of Humboldt County with the only known exception being Charlie Moon, who was welcomed on the Hupa reservation and began placemaking with a legacy of multiple generations of Chinese-Indigenous kin. As the filmmaker chases Charlie’s story, the plot thickens and eludes with ghosts of alternative histories.
