In 1885, Chinese people were forced out of Humboldt County with the only known exception being Charlie Moon, who was welcomed on the Hupa reservation and began placemaking with a legacy of multiple generations of Chinese-Indigenous kin. As the filmmaker chases Charlie’s story, the plot thickens and eludes with ghosts of alternative histories.
