NOBUKO MIYAMOTO: A SONG IN MOVEMENT, directed by Tadashi Nakamura and Quyên Nguyen-Le, chronicles the extraordinary journey of the legendary Nobuko Miyamoto – a dancer, singer, and activist driven by a lifelong passion for social justice and community engagement. From her captivating early roles on Broadway and in Hollywood to intimate nightclub performances and dynamic theater workshops, Miyamoto’s career is a testament to the power of art to challenge the established order and envision new possibilities.

A SONG IN MOVEMENT vividly captures the many evolutions of Miyamoto’s creative practice, portraying her as a catalyst and signature voice for the Asian American movement in its infancy. She was a member of the groundbreaking folk trio A Grain of Sand, famously introduced by John Lennon and Yoko Ono on national television, and a founder of Great Leap, a multicultural arts organization that promotes dialogue through community-based projects.

With rare archival footage and insightful interviews, NOBUKO MIYAMOTO: A SONG IN MOVEMENT celebrates her enduring legacy as a master storyteller and a beacon of change, inspiring generations of immigrants, activists, artists, and everyday people to find their collective voice in a world ever in flux.
