Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko

11-year-old Kikuko only wants to be an ordinary small-town girl, talking to animals and comfortably fading into the background. But she just so happens to have a single mom who is rambunctious, festive, man-crazy, and, if she were anybody but Kikuko’s mom, totally awesome. Too often, Kikuko feels like the parent in the family, but part of growing up is learning that there are things you can’t control, and that there are people to hold on to, eccentricities and all.
