In his third feature, the visionary filmmaker pays tribute to the history of cinema while engaging with the pulse of a rapidly evolving China. Spanning a century, Bi Gan pushes the philosophical boundaries of film through a mesmerizing orchestration of its core elements: image, sound, narrative, and special effects, all culminating in one of the most impressive long takes the medium has ever seen.
