After a year without taking photos, one look at the school’s star soccer player and Summer hears the shutter click. This click of first queer love also emboldens Summer to finally take the last four shots on an unfinished roll in her late father’s camera, only to unexpectedly find a secret left behind when she has them developed. As Summer retraces the fragments of her father’s past, she finds guidance from the mystery man in the photos, a stranger who reluctantly becomes her mentor, as she tries to make sense of new doubts and desires.
Divine Sung’s dreamy and warmly crafted debut explores a girl coming into her own, navigating the joys and mysteries of attraction, sexuality, grief, and familial bonds, one exposure at a time.
