In 1998, Zan (“Woman”) was Iran’s first-ever women’s newspaper founded by the daughter of a former Iranian president. Two schoolgirls write requests to publish synopses for a film they can never make, letters which become artifacts with the paper’s forced closure in 1999 and uncover a technicolor history censored by the Iran’s Ministry of Culture.
