There’s a curse on Trashtown, and the only way for spunky naïve sex worker AP to stop losing her teeth and lift her curse is to slaughter a baby lamb for a thousand dollars. With the help of her dependable moped, her friend Danni, a just-out-of-prison sapphic spirit, and larger-than-life clients with cash, she can raise the money to be free!

Assless chaps, golden showers, and coke parties are aplenty in this pre-millennium alternate universe of humid Trashtown’s hazy landscapes. On her version of the tarot’s Fool’s Journey, AP’s odyssey sucks off differing attitudes towards intimacy, class, and sex work. Meanwhile, arguments are hidden inside maximalist 16mm saturated glittery grimy fantasies.

Inspired by John Waters and Gregg Araki with a special appearance by Big Freedia, FUCKTOYS is an unhinged girly pop fever dream. For her debut feature, director, writer, and star Annapurna Sriram is a charismatic camp crush, and FUCKTOYS asks what’s worse: to be a whore or be invisible. The answer is queered through swampy sublimity.
